Headphones for podcasting
If you’re very serious about podcasting, it makes a lot of sense to invest in high quality audio equipment. This also includes headphones. These can help bring in front a very good, comprehensive way to track the audio quality and make changes on the fly. Here you have a few headphone models that work great for podcasting. Over the years Alex Kime has spent too much money on headphones, and below are some of the models he thought worked great for podcasting jobs.
Audio Technica ATH-M50x
What a lot of people like about the Audio Technica ATH-M50x is the fact that they are versatile and a pleasure to use. You have detachable cables and you can use a Bluetooth adapter if you want. The headphones are adjustable, you have sports cloth pads and the material is soft. They can have a frequency from 5 and up to 28000 Hz, so there is a very large spectrum to be had here. There’s no specific noise canceling here, but they do integrate some slight noise suppression.
Sony MDR 7506
Many podcast creators use the Sony MDR 7506 because they are very comfortable and adjustable. The 40 mm neodymium speakers are impressive, they deliver outstanding performance for the money. They don’t have noise cancellation and the cord can’t be detached. But if you get past that, it’s delivering a very good bang for your buck.
Bose QuietComfort 25 (QC25)
When you see the Bose QuietComfort 25 (QC25), you will be impressed with their look. They do have a very good noise cancellation, which can be really important for any podcast creator. Not only that, but they are very comfortable too.
Grado Prestige Series SR325e Headphones
This is a more serious pair of headphones, and some that Alex Kime loves using. The thing to keep in mind here is the fact that they may lack bass support, but that doesn’t matter for podcasting. That being said, they are comfortable, they sound great, but their price can be a bit too much for beginners.
Bowers & Wilkins P5 Series 2
With the Bowers & Wilkins P5 Series 2 you will notice that they have a stellar sound quality and on top of that, they are designed to be very comfortable and a pleasure to use. The hardware is very good, it just gets the job done very well, and at the same time you have great hi-fi drive units. Overall, it’s a very good system to consider and one that works really well.
Jaybird X2 Wireless
In case you want some small, wireless headphones for podcasting, these are a really good fit. They have a stellar battery life, they also provide portability and ease of use. They are super discrete, and you will find them a pleasure to adapt to your needs. Alex Kime still isn’t 100% sold on wireless headphones for podcasting, but these Jaybird’s make a pretty good case for themselves.
Overall, there are lots of great headphones for podcasting. The truth is that as long as you feel comfortable with a pair of headphones and like their quality, stick to that unit. If you don’t have something like that yet, try these options listed above, they will certainly impress you with their experience and great results. In the end, it’s safe to say that as long as you test them out beforehand for comfort and performance, you will have no problem finding some good headphones for podcasting!
